Elementary Education

A stage of
many changes.

Creativity, written and oral expression, enthusiasm for learning, and questioning.

The Elementary School stage spans from 6 to 12 years, a period of significant transformation in all aspects of their development. That’s why we seek to create an atmosphere of security and respect where they feel loved and heard.

To address the emotional, cognitive, physical, and social changes that children go through in Elementary School, we aim to create an environment of trust and security, allowing us to provide personalized support and resolve those small conflict situations that may arise with the care they deserve. Our students trust their teacher to guide them when needed.

We work on some aspects transversally and others more specifically. The school day is divided into:

  • 2 breaks throughout the day
  • 6 teaching hours Between ages 6 and 8, we focus on reading and writing and laying the foundations of mathematics following a certain discipline and balance in the subjects. From ages 9 to 12, we go from learning to read to learning by reading, which allows us to foster creativity and teamwork on specific content. The subjects of English, Science, Library, Art, Music and Theater are taught in small groups of 12 students per teacher.

Lesson activities

The primary stage is characterized by the following:

One hour of English per day in small groups of 12 students
We went from more experiential learning to beginning to introduce reading and writing, always linking it to topics of interest to the students. In addition, we accompany all areas of the school (dining room, recess, hallways) with native teachers.
We work on communication and negotiation skills from listening and respect
We want them to get used to presenting their research in public, asking what worries them and participating, accepting that error is part of the process.
We promote research capacity
We do not use textbooks. Instead, we propose different topics and encourage them to write about them. This turns them into creative students who investigate. Our students write more than most and always with a purpose: to capture everything explained in class in their notes.
We encourage problem solving, analysis of the environment through geometry, and understanding of basic concepts.
For example, we place incalculable value on the decomposition of numbers. This is what will allow them to understand, without memorizing, all the basic operations.
We use Smartick, a math app, three days a week, for fifteen minutes
It helps us reinforce what we worked on in class, as well as the more mechanical part, adapting to each person's level.
One hour of sport daily
It helps us encourage effort and improvement. Our incredible location allows us to do a lot of outdoor activity surrounded by nature.
The arts (Music, Plastic Arts and Theater) are core disciplines
They are taught by professionals in the field and in small groups.
We instill the pleasure of reading books with mandatory weekly library sessions
In this fast-paced world, the library gives them a space to learn the pleasure of concentration, silence and calm. Here they develop curiosity about the book, and enjoy a moment of stillness.
Experimental approach
We take advantage of the child's innate interest in understanding what surrounds them, giving Natural and Social subjects an extremely experiential approach. There is a lot of contact with nature and visits to the city and museums. For us, it is very important that learning increases progressively, from themselves to the outside, incorporating new information to what was learned in the previous course.
We seek balance
Between traditional and innovative approaches, between theoretical and practical application, between the relationship between the interior and exterior of the classes.
Flexibility and customization
Our method accommodates everyone, high abilities and learning difficulties, since we value effort and respect each person's learning rhythms.
We use the game as an educational tool
We include roles, symbolic and imitation.
We use methodologies that promote individual and collective learning
This is how we prepare them for academic and personal development.
We promote cross-subject activities
For example, the 4th grade film project.
